Postcard from Multnomah Falls

After a pretty low-key New Years Eve, I started off 2016 with breakfast and a cup of coffee, and then headed over to Multnomah Falls! It was something I really wanted to visit while in Portland, after having seen so many gorgeous instagrams. I’ll be honest, when I googled pictures before I left, most of them were from summer and fall, so I was feeling a little dejected. But then, I googled ‘Multnomah Falls winter’ and my heart soared. I don’t even like the movie Frozen, but oh my god the pictures made it look like Elsa’s castle! I was so beyond excited to see it myself, and it didn’t disappoint!Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset

Since it was New Years Day, it was definitely busy, but luckily the falls are big enough that it didn’t really matter. Being Portland, a lot of people had brought their adorable dogs with them as well, so the pups made up for the people.

It was a very cold day, and there was ice everywhere, but seeing the falls like this felt like such a treat. We tried to hike all the way to the top, but the trail was completely iced over by about 2/3 of the way up, and so since we weren’t wearing snow boots, we turned back. We did get some stunning views across the river (and into Washington!) from the trail though!
